New song out today! As a songwriter, occasionally there are going to be songs that people in your life don't understand. This is one of those songs for me. It's a terrible feeling to have the art you pour your soul into be misunderstood. The consequences of it made me terrified of making music for a long while. But people are complex creatures with layers and depth, so misunderstandings are as inevitable as the sunrise.  Hopefully, the people who love you will choose to believe the best about you and seek understanding with questions rather than judgment. But if they don't, give them the grace that you’d hope they’d give to you if the situation were reversed, learn the hard lessons of how to communicate better, stand firm in who you are and NEVER STOP DOING THE THING YOU WERE MEANT TO DO. I have giant emotions that are as untamable as the weather, but never do I allow those emotions to run the show. I ensure that my character, my convictions, and my intellect are the steel frame that keeps me upright when the emotions swirl about like a storm. Feelings have no moral value, they aren’t innately good or bad and they have no real power unless you bestow it upon them. Acknowledge them, feel them, but don’t be afraid of them or let them fill you with shame, and don’t let anyone else condemn you for them either.  Absorb your lessons and forge ahead without fear. Hopefully, along the way, you’ll find a tribe of people who get you and don’t see your emotional vibrancy as a defect or liability. ️ Give fear the middle finger and keep making beautiful things, friends.
